Eternity

E-mail Print PDF

If we could fathom in some small measure what eternity really meant, it would shake us. Where will you spend eternity?

It has been said that eternity will never be spent but we will have to spend it, in one of 2 places, heaven, with the redeemed or hell and the lake of fire, with the lost.

Where will you spend eternity?

The body is decaying, beset by sin, but man possesses an eternal soul.

"And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Genesis 2:7)

"For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy;" (Isaiah 57:15)

God hath set the notion of eternity in men's hearts. They may suppress it but they have a God given sense of eternity which they cannot deny. The word for world in the following verse is age or eternal ages.

"He hath made every thing beautiful in His time: also He hath set the world in their heart" (Ecclesiastes 3:11)

"Blessed be the LORD God of Israel from everlasting, and to everlasting. Amen, and Amen." (Psalm 41:13)

"But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall He come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting." (Micah 5:2)

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Isaiah 9:6)
